BT Young Scientist
Class/module: TY 4B science class
Teacher: Miss Barry
Date completed: 25th of September
Group: The group consisted of Aoife, Rose and I
Summary: It took some time to brainstorm and think of an idea but we decided to go with the idea about why girls exercise. We wanted to examine changes in self-esteem , they way girls look at their body and physical activity in a sample of 200 Irish adolescent girls over two measurements points and 4 months. We carried out a pre test, a three month intervention and a post-test. We collected our results and analysed them. We then typed up our project and submitted it to the competition.
Competition: We entered it into the BT young scientist competition. We didn't get in though.
What I learned: I learned how to work in a group and do my fair share of work. I also learned more about the subject we were investigating.
What could have gone better: We could have submitted it earlier than we did. We also could have researched more about our project.
How it achieved my aims/objectives of the year: This project achieved my aims for the year as worked as a group and got on better with my classmates. Also, I did something I wouldn’t usually do.
